Job Description

A Staff Nurse specializing in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is an essential part of the healthcare team, playing a critical role in the care and management of newborns who require intensive medical attention. This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to neonatal patients, often dealing with cases involving premature babies or those with complex health issues. Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill newborns in the NICU setting.

  • Operate specialized equipment used for neonatal care with precision and safety.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other nursing staff members.
  • Educate and support families, offering guidance and understanding regarding infant care.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records and document patient progress.
  • Participate actively in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment within the NICU facilities.
  • Continuously stay informed about the latest neonatal care techniques and practices.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to any emergencies or changes in patient conditions.
  • Adhere strictly to hospital protocols and regulatory requirements at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a NICU or similar critical care environment preferred.
  • Demonstrable ability to perform under pressure and handle stressful situations calmly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with families and staff.
  • Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills required for effective care delivery.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
