Senior Internal Auditor (225-925)

The Senior Internal Auditor plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of an organization's operations, financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position requires a deep understanding of auditing principles, risk management, and internal control systems. The Senior Internal Auditor will conduct independent and objective assessments of the organization’s processes and provide recommendations to improve efficiencies and governance practices. By identifying areas of potential risk and ensuring compliance with industry regulations, this role is vital in protecting the organization's assets and reputation. The candidate in this role will work closely with various departments to develop and execute audit plans and will be expected to communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders to report findings and suggest improvements.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct regular audits of organizational systems and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Assess the effectiveness of the internal control environment and suggest modifications for improvement.
• Prepare detailed audit reports for presentation to senior management and other stakeholders.
• Identify and evaluate significant risks affecting the organization and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with department heads to review and improve existing audit processes and standards.
• Conduct follow-up audits to ensure previous recommendations have been implemented effectively.
• Advise management on changes in procedures and controls to enhance operational efficiencies.
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation and support during external audit engagements.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s operations and industry regulations.
• Ensure auditing methods and practices are up-to-date and align with best industry standards.
• Train and mentor junior audit staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
• Stay informed on globally recognized auditing standards and emerging risks to continually improve the audit function.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A professional certification such as CPA, CIA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
• Minimum of five years of experience in internal audit, with a focus on risk assessment.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate data, identify patterns, and make informed recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively report findings to diverse stakeholders.
• Proficient with auditing software and tools, and Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Sound knowledge of auditing standards, procedures, laws, and regulations.
• Demonstrable experience in leading and mentoring audit teams or junior auditors.
