The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Draftsman plays a pivotal role in the design and execution of construction projects by preparing detailed 2D and 3D drawings. These drawings are crucial for the planning and implementation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within a construction framework. As an MEP Draftsman, you will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and construction managers to ensure the precise execution of MEP designs, optimize space utilization, and comply with construction specifications and safety standards. This role demands a deep understanding of construction methodologies, proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, and an ability to translate complex designs into clear and comprehensible technical plans. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and possesses strong communication skills to effectively liaise with various technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed MEP designs and execute layouts for building infrastructures.
• Collaborate closely with engineers to understand project specifications and requirements.
• Translate conceptual designs into accurate technical drawings using CAD software.
• Update and modify existing drawings to adhere to revised specifications or standards.
• Coordinate with architects and construction managers to ensure design feasibility.
• Ensure all MEP designs comply with local building codes and regulations.
• Maintain files and records of design history for future reference and audits.
• Conduct quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and review submittal packages for client and management approval.
• Assist in resolving design conflicts and technical issues during construction phases.
• Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to clarify drawing specifications.
• Participate in project meetings to discuss and plan new design requirements.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar programs.
• Proven experience in drafting MEP systems for commercial and residential projects.
• Strong understanding of MEP codes and standards relevant to construction.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in technical drawings.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with conflicting deadlines efficiently.
