Job Description

An Estimation Engineer plays a critical role in the planning and execution of engineering projects. By analyzing various data and project requirements, this professional calculates accurate estimates for the cost, resources, and time necessary to complete a project. This role is fundamental to ensuring that projects remain within budget and are delivered on time. The Estimation Engineer collaborates closely with project managers, architects, and other engineers to gather information and make informed decisions about project feasibility and resource allocation. An ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mind, excellent mathematical capabilities, and experience in the engineering or construction industries. Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are crucial, as the engineer will navigate complex data and timelines to support successful project outcomes.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze project specifications and requirements to develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers and architects to gather essential data and information.
  • Prepare detailed project budgets and timelines based on gathered data.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications for cost estimation.
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify factors affecting project costs and schedules.
  • Maintain and update a database of project costs and materials for future reference.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to obtain the best pricing and delivery options.
  • Prepare and present estimation reports and documentation to stakeholders for approval.
  • Participate in project planning meetings to offer insights on cost optimization.
  • Monitor and track project progress against initial estimates and budgets.
  • Suggest cost-saving solutions and value engineering options to project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in all estimation activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in estimation, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for report generation.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
