Job Description

The Assistant Manager (Maintenance) is a key role responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of a facility or equipment. This individual will work closely with the Maintenance Manager to oversee daily maintenance activities, coordinate tasks, and ensure that all equipment and machinery are functioning efficiently. The Assistant Manager (Maintenance) will also play a critical role in implementing preventive maintenance strategies, managing maintenance personnel, and ensuring that safety standards are met. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, technical expertise, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly. An understanding of industry standards and compliance regulations is crucial for this role.


Responsibilities

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in planning and supervising maintenance tasks daily.
  • Coordinate and delegate maintenance jobs to ensure optimal team efficiency and productivity.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of maintenance staff, providing guidance and feedback.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Ensure that all maintenance operations are conducted according to safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, ordering new stock as necessary.
  • Assist in preparing maintenance budgets and controlling costs to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Analyze equipment malfunctions and breakdowns, implementing corrective actions promptly.
  • Prepare and update maintenance reports, logs, and documentation for management review.
  • Liaise with other departments to plan and schedule maintenance activities without disrupting operations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations in all maintenance work.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and development initiatives for maintenance personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a maintenance supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance processes, procedures, and preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse maintenance team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • In-depth understanding of safety standards and compliance regulations in maintenance activities.
  • Proficient in maintenance management software and other relevant technology tools.
