Job Description

As a Lab Assistant in the Pathology department, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the pathology laboratory's daily operations. You will assist with the preparation, maintenance, and quality control of specimens and laboratory equipment. Your responsibilities will also include data entry, specimen processing, and ensuring compliance with all laboratory protocols and safety standards. This position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented individual with a keen interest in laboratory sciences. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced pathologists and laboratory technicians, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and challenging environment. Responsibilities

  • Assist pathologists and laboratory technicians with the preparation and analysis of samples.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure it is in good working order at all times.
  • Perform specimen collection and processing following established laboratory protocols.
  • Label and store samples correctly to ensure integrity and traceability.
  • Conduct routine quality control checks and report any discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure the laboratory workspace is clean, organized, and complies with safety standards.
  • Input data into laboratory information systems with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and monitoring stock levels.
  • Comply with all laboratory safety guidelines and wear appropriate protective equipment.
  • Support research and development projects by assisting with experiments and data collection.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to facilitate smooth laboratory operations.
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay updated on laboratory practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • Previous laboratory experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and data entry applications.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with colleagues and supervisors effectively.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and willingness to comply strictly.
