Job Description

The Distribution Manager plays a crucial role in the efficient and effective operation of an organization’s supply chain. This position is responsible for controlling, coordinating, and managing the storage and distribution of goods within a company. A Distribution Manager ensures that orders are fulfilled correctly and on time, maintaining high levels of quality and service. This role involves managing warehouse operations, overseeing the transportation of goods, and ensuring that products are delivered efficiently and cost-effectively. A successful Distribution Manager is strategic, organized, and capable of leading a team to achieve optimal performance. They work closely with logistics, procurement, and sales teams to optimize the distribution process, streamline operations, and enhance customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the distribution center and warehouse facilities.
  • Develop and implement distribution strategies to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Coordinate the transportation of goods to ensure timely delivery to customers.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and ensure stock levels are managed effectively.
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and transportation carriers.
  • Lead and develop a team of distribution staff through training and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all operations.
  • Monitor performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of distribution activities.
  • Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to align distribution with business goals.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance distribution processes and systems.
  • Prepare and manage the distribution budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Resolve any issues related to shipments, deliveries, or inventory discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or related field.
  • Proven experience in distribution management or a similar supply chain role.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to oversee distribution operations effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Solid knowledge of logistics, including transportation and warehousing concepts.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external partners.
  • Proficient in using logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite for planning and reporting.
