The Staff Nurse - Emergency position is pivotal in the effective functioning of an emergency department. As a Staff Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER), you will be at the forefront of patient care, providing critical and timely assistance to individuals in urgent medical situations. You will collaborate closely with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to assess patients’ conditions, stabilize them, and ensure they receive quality care. The role requires a dynamic individual who can remain calm under pressure, make quick and informed decisions, and prioritize tasks effectively. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the overall efficiency of the department, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care possible.

Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients upon arrival in the emergency room to determine the priority of care needed.
• Administer emergency medical care such as CPR, blood transfusions, and wound treatment.
• Monitor and document patients’ vital signs regularly to observe the progression or stabilization of their condition.
• Collaborate with doctors and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care to patients.
• Prepare and maintain emergency equipment and supplies to ensure they are always ready for use.
• Educate patients and their families about ongoing treatment requirements and post-discharge care plans.
• Handle high-pressure, fast-paced environments with agility while ensuring patient safety and care quality.
• Perform duties in compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and legal norms.
• Implement infection control measures to maintain a clean and safe treatment environment.
• Assist in the management of departmental operations and logistics to maintain smooth workflow.
• Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff and new team members within the emergency department.
• Coordinate with external support services such as ambulance and disaster response teams as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of two years of experience in emergency or critical care nursing.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment and manage multiple patients and priorities.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other medical charting systems.
