Job Description

The role of Senior Cost Manager - MEP is pivotal in ensuring that mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) projects are delivered on time and within budget while meeting the company's high standards of quality and client satisfaction. As a Senior Cost Manager, you will be at the heart of project delivery, providing expertise and guidance throughout the cost management process. You'll oversee financial functions to sustain the profitability and efficiency of projects. This leadership role requires excellent analytical skills, thorough understanding of MEP systems, strong leadership capabilities, and a keen eye for detail in budget management. Success in this role relies on a strong collaboration with project teams and clients to achieve seamless project execution.


Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive cost control strategies for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects.
  • Supervise cost management activities, ensuring accurate budget forecasting and adherence.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis for MEP projects to support strategy decisions.
  • Collaborate with project managers to monitor and maintain project expenditure within budget.
  • Prepare reports detailing project financial performance and forecast future cost trends.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and vendors to negotiate cost-effective contracts and agreements.
  • Implement risk management processes to identify, assess and mitigate financial risks.
  • Develop and review project cost estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage project change orders, ensuring cost variations are accurately documented and justified.
  • Mentor junior staff, providing training and support in cost management for MEP projects.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements in financial processes.
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders to ensure transparency and understanding of cost implications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in cost management, with at least 3 years in MEP projects.
  • Proficiency in using cost management software and financial analysis tools is essential.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems and the ability to estimate relevant costs accurately.
  • Excellent leadership skills and experience managing cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills to handle complex project budget issues.
  • Impeccable communication and negotiation skills to manage stakeholder expectations adequately.
