Job Description

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting licensed pharmacists in dispensing medications and providing customer service. Your position will involve interacting with customers, assisting them with their medication-related inquiries, managing inventory, and performing administrative tasks. You will work in both retail and hospital pharmacy settings, thereby ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy and delivering high-quality care and services to patients and customers. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask are essential traits for succeeding in this role. Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescribed medications to customers efficiently.
  • Provide information and guidance to customers regarding medication usage and potential side effects.
  • Maintain and update patient records with accurate medication history and relevant details.
  • Manage pharmacy stock levels, including ordering new stock and removing expired products.
  • Label and package medications correctly in compliance with pharmacy regulations and standards.
  • Operate POS systems to process customer transactions and handle cash accurately.
  • Support pharmacists in preparing and checking prescriptions to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Organize and update pharmacy inventory to streamline operations and avoid shortages.
  • Answer phone calls promptly and address medication and pharmacy-related inquiries professionally.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of pharmacy environment for safety and hygiene compliance.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and report generation as needed.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers and insurance companies for prescription authorizations and clarifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; pharmacy technician certification is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and pharmacy operations is necessary.
  • Excellent customer service skills with high attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in pharmacy software and POS systems.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities for efficient task handling.
