Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Pastry Commis to join our culinary team. As a Pastry Commis, you will play an integral role in preparing, baking, and presenting a wide variety of pastries, desserts, and other baked goods. You will work in a high-paced environment to ensure product quality and exceptional service. The ideal candidate will have a foundational knowledge of pastry techniques and a genuine enthusiasm for creating beautiful and delicious pastries. Under the guidance of our head pastry chef, you will expand your culinary skills and contribute to delivering an enchanting culinary experience to our guests. Responsibilities

  • Assist the head pastry chef in preparing and baking daily pastry items.
  • Decorate pastries, cakes, and desserts as per standardized recipes and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of ingredients and supplies in the pastry section.
  • Follow proper food handling and sanitation practices in the bakery area.
  • Support the pastry team by carrying out daily responsibilities timely and efficiently.
  • Ensure high quality of cooked or baked food items before dispatching them for service.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to innovate and test new recipes if needed.
  • Assist in managing the refrigeration and organization of goods and displays.
  • Prepare and produce high-quality pastry under the supervision of senior chefs.
  • Operate and maintain all pastry equipment and machinery with care and precision.
  • Communicate effectively with the team to ensure service runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Continuously seek to improve pastry skills and techniques through guidance and practice.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Pastry Commis or in a similar role required.
  • Formal culinary training or pastry chef qualification is highly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of various pastry techniques and recipes needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Passion for continuously developing pastry skills and learning new techniques.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
