Job Description

As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the dental team to ensure the highest level of patient care. This role involves a combination of patient interaction, clinical tasks, and administrative duties. You will work closely with dentists and dental hygienists, assisting them during procedures and ensuring that the office runs smoothly. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to patient care, an understanding of dental terminology, and proficiency with dental equipment and instruments. Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during dental procedures and surgeries, ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up equipment for procedures.
  • Take and develop dental x-rays, as well as maintain accurate patient records.
  • Ensure patients are comfortable and informed about their dental procedures and treatment plans.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of the dental office and ensure all areas comply with health regulations.
  • Order and maintain dental supplies, ensuring all necessary inventory is well-stocked.
  • Provide post-operative care instructions to patients following dental procedures and surgeries.
  • Manage patient appointments and help optimize the dentist’s time and schedules.
  • Perform office management tasks, including answering phones and greeting patients.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive dental care measures.
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of new dental staff and temporary assistants.
  • Stay updated on new dental practices and techniques through continuous education and training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Dental Assistant program preferred.
  • Valid Dental Assistant certification and radiology certification as required by state laws.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and dental team effectively.
  • Proficiency in handling dental instruments, materials, and impression trays.
  • Basic knowledge of dental software for patient record management and appointment scheduling.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in patient interactions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to assist in various tasks within the dental office as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to providing high-quality care and service.
