Job Description

The Logistics Supervisor is a critical role within a supply chain or distribution organization, responsible for overseeing and managing the logistics operations. This individual will ensure that all logistics activities such as shipping, warehousing, and inventory management are running smoothly and efficiently. The Logistics Supervisor plays a key part in planning and implementing logistical strategies to ensure seamless movement of goods. They must have a keen eye for detail and excellent problem-solving skills to handle any potential logistical issues. This position requires strong leadership qualities to manage logistics staff and collaborate with other departments to optimize performance and ensure customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate logistics activities to ensure efficient operations daily.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain logistics policies and procedures for consistency.
  • Manage logistics personnel, providing guidance and support to ensure productivity.
  • Monitor and analyze logistics KPIs for operational improvements and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless transportation and delivery processes.
  • Oversee inventory management, ensuring accuracy and availability of necessary products.
  • Negotiate contracts or manage relationships with logistics service providers and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal logistics and transportation regulations.
  • Coordinate with customer service to address logistics-related inquiries or issues promptly.
  • Prepare and manage the logistics budget to adhere to financial targets and constraints.
  • Develop contingency plans for logistics operations to handle unexpected disruptions.
  • Continuously assess logistics technology or software systems for potential enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in logistics management or a similar position.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills to oversee logistics staff effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to handle logistics issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with various organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in using logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal logistics regulations impacting operations.
