Department Overview  

The global PPK group is a key function, which helps to identify, create, and leverage “best of Bain” content, expertise, and helps Bain practice areas develop commercial strategies. 

 

Position Summary 

PPK Reporting & Analytics CoE has experienced strong growth as an internal business intelligence and analytics business over the past three years. Given the expansion of the team, we are looking for a Senior Associate to support the core team and drive the analytical capabilities to its full potential over the next phase. 

 

Specific Responsibilities 

  • Assist in developing specific parts of reporting solutions using Tableau, and similar tools, working under the guidance of Senior Specialists to ensure outputs meet project needs. 
  • Help automate routine reporting processes and support the implementation of simple AI models using Python and R. Focus on learning and applying techniques to improve operational tasks. 
  • Take responsibility for specific, well-defined tasks within larger projects, ensuring they are completed on time and according to the specified standards. Receive close guidance and feedback from Senior Specialists and Managers. 
  • Assist in gathering and preparing data for analytics and reporting, contributing to cross-functional team efforts in data-driven projects. 
  • Write efficient SQL queries to extract, join, and analyze data from Databricks-based schemas. 
  • Work with normalized data models and develop an understanding of ERDs, table relationships, and data definitions. 
  • Begin applying best practices in automation and reporting, focusing on consistency and accuracy in deliverables. Work closely with Senior Specialists to understand and follow established standards. 
  • Participate actively in team meetings and activities, contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment as guided by Senior Specialists and Managers. 
  • Offer basic guidance and support to Associates and more junior team members, helping them understand tasks and project goals. 
  • Assist in the onboarding process of new team members by helping them acclimate to the team’s processes and culture. 
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas for innovation initiatives, supporting smaller-scale tasks within these projects. 

 

Qualifications 

  • 4-7 years (graduates) or 2-5 years (post-graduates) of relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting solutions development, with experience using tools like Tableau, Python, and SQL 
  • Concentration in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics, Business Analytics, or Market Research is strongly preferred. 
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, including Databricks SQL queries 
  • Proficiency in SQL, with experience in supporting database management tasks, optimizing queries, and assisting in database design efforts. 
  • Proficiency in using basic features of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and analytics frameworks (e.g., Pandas, NumPy), with a focus on learning best practices in reporting. 
  • Experience using AI tools to support the development of analytics-based business solutions and improve output quality, effectiveness, and efficiency. 
  • Preferred: exposure to training and/ or deploying machine learning models for business analytics applications. 
  • Basic knowledge of Python, particularly in automating simple tasks, and a growing understanding of data processing and AI model implementation. 
  • Understanding of fundamental data structures and algorithms, with an ability to apply these concepts to simple analytics and reporting tasks. 
  • High level of documentation discipline, including dashboard documentation, metric descriptions, and assumptions 
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, with a focus on tackling data-related issues and contributing to the successful delivery of analytics and reporting solutions. 
  • Ability to contribute to the development of reporting solutions and data analytics tasks that support decision-making within specific projects. 
  • Experience working as part of a team in an analytics-based environment, focusing on supporting the delivery of reporting solutions that assist with routine business activities. 
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and begin articulating basic technical aspects of data solutions. 
  • Experience working in an agile environment, with an ability to manage straightforward tasks within a dynamic project setting. 
  • Ability to collaborate with team members to ensure that assigned tasks align with project needs and contribute to overall project success. 
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail, with an eagerness to learn modern analytics platforms and best practices. 
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and apply new skills in data analytics and AI, with curiosity and a proactive approach to personal development.
