Job Description

A Structural Design Engineer plays a critical role in the field of construction and civil engineering. They are responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction of various infrastructure projects, ensuring that structures are safe, sustainable, and meet all required building codes and regulations. They work closely with architects, construction managers, and other engineering professionals to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions to complex engineering problems. Utilizing both creative and analytical skills, they develop structural plans and specifications using advanced design software and techniques. They must be detail-oriented, proactive problem-solvers who can predict structural challenges and address them before construction begins. Their expertise not only enhances the safety and longevity of structures but also contributes to the aesthetic and functional integration of engineering solutions within the built environment.


Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed structural designs for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with architects and construction teams to ensure structural adequacy and design efficiency.
  • Conduct structural analysis and simulations using specialized engineering software.
  • Prepare and review structural specifications, drawings, and project deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international building codes and standards.
  • Perform site inspections to verify design conformity and oversee construction activities.
  • Identify and solve structural engineering problems with innovative and practical solutions.
  • Evaluate the structural integrity of existing buildings and recommend corrective measures.
  • Create detailed reports and presentations to communicate design concepts and project status.
  • Work within project timelines and budgets to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities for the approval of designs and construction plans.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in structural engineering and construction technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent licensure preferred or working towards obtaining it.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural design and analysis.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, structural analysis, and design tools like ETABS and STAAD.Pro.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and construction methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills for interfacing with clients, regulatory bodies, and construction teams.
