Job Description

An IT Support Services Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving the IT infrastructure of an organization. This position is essential for ensuring that all technical systems are functioning efficiently and effectively to support the smooth operation of the organization’s activities. The IT Support Services Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to staff and clients, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and assisting in the implementation of IT solutions. This role demands a blend of problem-solving abilities, technical knowledge, and excellent communication skills. The incumbent will work closely with other IT professionals, maintaining networks, diagnosing and fixing issues, and facilitating upgrades and installations. Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line support to users experiencing IT-related issues or problems.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, and network issues professionally.
  • Maintain and monitor computer systems and networks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Install, configure, and update software and hardware components as required.
  • Liaise with third-party support and vendors for problem resolution and upgrades.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations within the system.
  • Create and maintain documentation for IT procedures, policies, and user guides.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new IT solutions and systems.
  • Conduct regular system audits, backups, and security checks to safeguard data.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions to enhance user proficiency with IT systems.
  • Provide constructive feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement of IT infrastructure.
  • Respond promptly to service issues and requests, meeting agreed service levels and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in an IT support or technical role.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and common applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Experience with a range of operating systems and platforms, including Windows and Linux.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
