Job Description

A Merchandiser plays a critical role in retail and supply chain operations. This position is responsible for driving sales by ensuring that the right products are available in the right quantities and at the right locations to meet the needs of customers. The Merchandiser will collaborate closely with buyers, suppliers, and retail outlets to optimize product placement, stock levels, and promotional strategies. They must possess a strong understanding of market trends, consumer preferences, and seasonal demands to make informed decisions about product assortments. This role requires excellent analytical skills to evaluate sales data and inventory reports and the ability to develop strategic plans to maintain competitive advantage in the marketplace. With a combination of creativity, insight into consumer behavior, and business acumen, the Merchandiser will contribute significantly to the profitability and success of retail operations.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze consumer behavior and market trends to inform product selections and inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing and delivery terms for optimal stock levels.
  • Work with the marketing team to develop promotional campaigns for product launches.
  • Monitor inventory levels and suggest adjustments to avoid overstock or stockouts.
  • Coordinate with store managers to ensure displays are attractive and products are strategically placed.
  • Evaluate sales performance data to inform future merchandising strategies and decisions.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure timely and efficient supply chain operations.
  • Review and adapt merchandising plans according to seasonal trends and customer feedback.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to stay abreast of industry trends and consumer desires.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on merchandising performance and inventory status.
  • Oversee the compliance of merchandising activities with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Support store operations through effective communication and problem-solving strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in merchandising, retail, or a related area.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with sales forecasting and inventory management.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and store teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with the capability to analyze and interpret data effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
