Job Description

A Teller plays a critical role in maintaining customer satisfaction and operational efficiencies within a bank or financial institution. As the first point of contact for customers, tellers are responsible for handling routine banking transactions with accuracy, professionalism, and a friendly demeanor. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills as well as a detailed understanding of the institution’s products and services. Tellers are often tasked with cross-selling additional products and services to customers, thus contributing to the bank’s growth and financial health. Strong cash handling skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to confidentiality are essential in this role. A Teller must manage cash drawers, process deposits and withdrawals, and provide exceptional customer service while ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and internal policies.


Responsibilities

  • Process deposits, withdrawals, and other banking transactions efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain cash drawer throughout the day with periodic verification for accuracy.
  • Cross-sell bank products and services based on customer needs and inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements in financial transactions.
  • Provide informational support and address inquiries related to bank accounts.
  • Handle customer complaints and escalate issues promptly to supervisory staff.
  • Balance cash drawer at the end of the day and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures of the bank for daily operations.
  • Participate in training programs and attend team meetings for continuous development.
  • Secure the confidentiality of customer banking information in all transactions.
  • Prepare daily reports and service logs according to bank protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during high traffic periods.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required for consideration as a Teller.
  • Previous cash handling experience in a retail or banking environment preferred.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with banking software systems and operational protocols advantageous.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data accurately.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to handle stressful situations calmly.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all interactions.
