Job Title: Switchgear Electrician

Reports to: Supervisor/Manager

Job Objectives:

Inspect and performs preventive and maintenance on all lighting and electrical switchgear, including coordinating modifications with the Department.

Responsibilities and duties:

• Needs to have the ability to read control panel drawings.
• Must have the ability to use hand tools and power tools in order to assemble, install, test, and maintain LV electrical control panels.
• Analyze the malfunctioning systems, equipment, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Use a variety of tools and equipment such measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including ammeters, and test lamps, IR tester, Dielectric tester.
• Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and components.
• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
