In the world of healthcare, the role of a Staff Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is both challenging and critical. This position, coded as NICU 13N25, demands a combination of compassion, precision, and expertise as it involves providing care for the most vulnerable patients: newborns with critical medical needs. Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates in a high acuity unit.
  • Monitor and assess the condition and progress of neonates frequently.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by attending physicians.
  • Utilize and maintain specialized equipment for advanced neonatal care.
  • Collaborate effectively with the medical team to develop care plans.
  • Educate and support families, offering emotional reassurance and guidance.
  • Ensure documentation is precise, thorough, and updated in real-time.
  • Respond promptly to changes in patients' conditions, initiating interventions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and protocol development.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance clinical skills.
  • Provide counsel and assist in the process of neonatal resuscitations.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license required, with specialized certification in NICU care preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a NICU or equivalent intensive care unit.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, with an active RN license in good standing.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for interaction with families in crisis.
  • Proficiency in utilizing advanced life-saving medical equipment.
  • Strong ability to function effectively under high-pressure scenarios.
  • Commitment to adhering strictly to privacy and confidentiality policies.
