Job Description

The Site HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer is a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of site operations with industry safety standards and company policies. This position requires a keen understanding of occupational health, safety regulations, and environmental risks within the workplace. As a Site HSE Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and enhancing health and safety performance on the site. Your role will involve the implementation of safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to legal requirements and best practices. This position plays a key role in promoting a culture of safety that minimizes risks and enhances operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of personnel to achieve site safety objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety and environmental programs.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Perform regular site inspections and audits to evaluate adherence to safety protocols.
  • Provide safety training and guidance to site personnel to promote best practices.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, or near misses to determine root causes and preventive actions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to site safety activities.
  • Collaborate with management to establish safety goals and track performance metrics.
  • Participate in emergency management planning, drills, and incident response activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related issues, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Encourage and foster a positive safety culture within the organization.
  • Stay updated with industry standards, legislation, and best practices in safety and environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety management such as NEBOSH or OSHA preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar HSE role within an industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail for risk assessment processes.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure in urgent situations.
  • Familiarity with safety management software and reporting tools for documentation purposes.
  • Proven track record of driving safety initiatives and improving site safety performance.
