Job Description

The Site HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer plays a critical role in ensuring that the workplace adheres to all safety protocols and environmental regulations. This role involves the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety and environmental systems, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, and promoting a culture of safety and sustainability within the organization. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders. The Site HSE Officer is also responsible for identifying potential hazards, conducting site inspections, and providing training and guidance to employees to foster a safe working environment.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations and environmental laws on-site.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Identify potential hazards and design mechanisms for risk mitigation.
  • Provide training and guidance on safety protocols to all employees.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to determine causes and prevent recurrences.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety and environmental issues and incidents.
  • Collaborate with management to develop safety improvement plans.
  • Lead safety meetings to inform staff on updates and best practices.
  • Maintain and update all required safety documentation and records.
  • Ensure the emergency response plans are adequate and well-practiced.
  • Advise on technological solutions to improve health, safety, and environmental standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar HSE role.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
  • Certification in occupational safety and health, such as NEBOSH, is preferred.
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and safety presentations effectively.
