Job Description

The Site HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the safety standards of our construction sites. The individual in this position is responsible for ensuring that health and safety laws are adhered to and that our working environment is in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. The Site HSE Officer will conduct regular audits, advise on improvements, and implement policies that promote occupational health and safety within our company. They will also be required to investigate any incidents or accidents, ensure all site personnel are aware of and trained in safety practices, and maintain the necessary documentation. This role demands a proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the safety and well-being of all employees.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures aligned with regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the construction site for safety compliance.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement effective risk management strategies.
  • Ensure all site personnel receive adequate safety training and equipment.
  • Investigate and document any incidents, accidents, or health hazards on site.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on safety performance metrics and progress.
  • Coordinate emergency response drills and maintain preparedness at all times.
  • Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety measures into project plans.
  • Advocate for health and safety improvements and best practices among staff.
  • Keep abreast of new regulations and industry trends applicable to site safety.
  • Support the development of site-specific safety communication and awareness programs.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation in compliance with legal standards and company policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar HSE role within construction industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Proven track record in identifying and mitigating workplace hazards successfully.
  • Professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to lead and influence others in promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in documentation.
  • Willingness to travel across different locations based on site requirements.
