Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to manage industrial CapEx projects globally, as part of Hempel’s Engineering & Projects Department. In the role you will be responsible for budget, quality and progress, managing all aspects of the projects between Hempel, consulting engineers, contractors, etc.

You will be a part of the Group Engineering & Industrial Projects team at Hempel. At Hempel we win together so we expect you to possess great collaboration skills as well as being self-driven.

Here Are Some Key Responsibilities To Look Forward To

  • Responsible for budget, timeline, quality and HSE on various project types, in Hempel’s factories worldwide.
  • Manage project cost to stay within budget including preparing financial project forecasts
  • Oversee all technical aspects of industrial projects with special attention to approvals, buildings and process-related scope
  • Coordination between internal and external parties in the projects
  • Secure contracts with engineering companies, construction companies, equipment suppliers, etc. in cooperation with Hempel procurement and legal teams
  • Manage progress and implement corrective action to secure timely completion of the projects.
  • Ensure the projects are executed in full compliance with local regulations and laws as well as Hempel internal guidelines
  • Lead negotiations with local contractors and equipment suppliers including finalizing contract documents
  • Secure commissioning and handover of the projects to the end users, in cooperation with colleagues, consultants, contractors and suppliers
  • Conduct steering committee meetings

The position is placed in Sharjah (UAE) and will report into Head of Engineering & Projects.

What We’re Looking For

  • Electrical, mechanical, production or similar engineering background
  • Vast experience in managing design and construction projects as project manager
  • Experience with complex technical installations e.g. HVAC, electrical distribution, process equipment or similar
  • Experience with process equipment within the paint, coating or similar industry is a must
  • Experience with all aspects of contract creation (negotiation of scope, price and terms) and the following execution by contractors and suppliers
  • Experience with supervising local consulting companies, and liaising with local authorities regarding permit applications and approvals
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
