Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer Building Services

Job Description

WSP in the Middle East are seeking a Senior / Principal Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) to lead mechanical design delivery in the UAE. This role is central to our mission of delivering excellence in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and sustainable mechanical systems for complex developments.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design packages for large-scale building services projects.
• Oversee HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems.
• Ensure compliance with international codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, BS) and UAE authority requirements.
• Drive sustainable mechanical solutions, including district cooling and energy-efficient systems.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors.
• Mentor junior engineers and review technical deliverables.
• Support project delivery from concept to commissioning.
  
  
  

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
• 10–15 years of mechanical building services design experience, with at least 5 years in the Middle East.
• Strong knowledge of regional codes and authority approvals.
• Proven leadership in managing design teams.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
