Scope of the Job

Responsible to:           Head Scenic Carpenter

Responsible for:         Overseeing the daily operational needs of the Scenic construction Workshop.

Job Purpose

To work alongside the Scenic Construction team and Workshop supervisor in developing and maintaining an efficient Scenic construction workshop that meets industry standards in scenic building.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Carpenter reports to the Workshop Supervisor and shall execute the following tasks and responsibilities:

·        Conduct routine inspection of machines and ensure safe, proper use.

·        Handle materials and tools responsibly, ensuring safe usage and storage.

·        Collaborate as a team player, with flexibility.

·        Assist in constructing and assembling scenic elements in line with design specifications and safety standards.

·        Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

·        Assist with the setup and dismantling of scenic elements on-site, ensuring secure installation.

·        Maintain high standards of craftsmanship and finish in all scenic elements.

Knowledge and Experience

·        Good understanding of scenic construction techniques, methods, and industry standards.

·        A strong background of at least two years of working in a professional carpentry workshop in a production environment.

·        Practical experience in scenic construction, carpentry/fabrication, including assembly, load-in, fit-up, maintenance, and repair.

·        Support the shop floor build of all scenic elements, maintaining quality.

·        Maintain daily communication with the Scenic team to ensure scenic elements are built to specification and on schedule

·        To be familiar with, and comply with, current Health and Safety regulations relevant to the industry.

·        To ensure that personnel and others adhere to safe working practices.
