Job Description

A Project Quantity Surveyor is a pivotal role within construction and engineering projects, tasked with the effective management of costs, ensuring that projects are completed within budget while still adhering to high standards of quality and compliance. Project Quantity Surveyors are essential in negotiating contracts, managing project costs, and minimising project risks. Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects by analyzing blueprints and scope documents.
  • Manage budgets and ensure that projects are delivered within the agreed financial constraints.
  • Conduct risk analysis and cost control to identify any financial discrepancies or overspends.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective solutions are implemented.
  • Negotiate and oversee project contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and quality standards.
  • Track changes to design or construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly.
  • Prepare financial reports and perform accurate project valuations at regular intervals.
  • Facilitate resolution of disputes by providing data-based recommendations and alternatives.
  • Assist in procurement activities and ensure the timely delivery of resources to sites.
  • Collaborate with project management to forecast future financial needs and commitments.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and preparation of tender documents for potential projects.
  • Evaluate project progress and report valuable insights to upper management and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in a similar quantity surveying role.
  • Proficient understanding of construction processes, techniques, and legislation.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with a detailed-oriented mentality.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to influence project outcomes positively.
  • Proven ability to use industry-standard software such as AutoCAD and cost estimation tools.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with all project stakeholders.
