Job Description

The Procurement Engineer is a crucial component in the operations of a company, responsible for managing and streamlining the entire procurement process within a project or organization. This position demands a proactive approach to sourcing and purchasing essential materials and services, aiming to ensure the smooth progress of projects and operations. As a Procurement Engineer, one will work closely with suppliers to negotiate contracts, ensure cost-effective procurement processes, and ensure quality standards are upheld. This role requires a strong understanding of both engineering and procurement principles, and the ability to apply this knowledge to forecast future needs and contribute to the sustainability of the supply chain processes.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that are cost-effective and efficient.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand specifications and technical requirements.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and trends in the industry.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure advantageous deals.
  • Maintain a solid and up-to-date database of suppliers and their performance records.
  • Monitor supplier compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of purchased goods and services.
  • Evaluate procurement processes to identify and implement areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements in procurement activities.
  • Work on initiatives to drive sustainability and environmental responsibility in procurement.
  • Prepare procurement reports and analysis to present to management for decision-making.
  • Manage inventory levels and forecast future procurement needs and budget requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement, preferably within an engineering environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable contracts.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills to manage interactions with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
