This role is a full-time office-based role in Sharjah, UAE.

The role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Process Engineer to join our UAE Business Unit.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as Supply Chain, Construction and Commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices.
Projects include both Greenfield and Brownfield modification projects and integrating low-carbon solutions to support our client’s energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Responsibilities
Review of EPC Contractor and Vendor documentation in line with Client specifications and contract requirements
Assurance of quality of design
Provide recommendations and consult the project team on technical issues
Issuance and quick resolution of comment resolution sheets
Attendance for safety and design reviews, FATs (within UAE, if required) as well as meetings with EPC Contractors
Awareness of project status as well as cost and schedule impacts due to technical issues
Perform process studies for the Client, where required
Engage actively in the design, preparation of specification, data sheets and analysis of Process engineering requirements on a project
Carry out detailed design to ensure proposed designs meet the technical requirements of the project
Planning and supporting on Process engineering design for field process engineering requirements, preparation of basic design, data sheets, specifications, support on design deliverables, detailed design of the process part of the project
Ensuring that the design is carried out as per the industry standard practices and in conformance with the quality management system
Co-ordination with Project team and client
Identification of issues that impede project progress and reporting to Project Managers and Line Manager
Assimilating the evolution of new products and technology and updating oneself on the latest international standards in terms of engineering design practices and their applications
Identifying new methodology of work process required for higher productivity
Standing-in as lead as and when required
Hands on Experience with Process Simulation and Pipenet

Expected
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering
Minimum 12+ years of Oil and Gas experience
Minimum 5-8 years FEED experience in upstream projects
Experience in FEED design of Crude Oil Storage systems, Produced Water system and Fire Water system is preferred
Middle East experience preferred
Extensive brownfield experience
Iraq project experience
Fit-for-purpose approach using the experience gained in the industry
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent technical team and interpersonal skills
Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant international codes and standards
Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software
Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems
