Job Description

A Merchandiser plays a pivotal role in the retail industry by ensuring that the right products are available in the right locations at the right time. They analyze market trends, customer preferences, and historical sales data to optimize product placement and inventory levels. Their main objective is to enhance sales and profitability through effective store displays and inventory management. Merchandisers collaborate closely with suppliers, store managers, and buyers to plan and execute merchandising strategies. They also monitor competitor activities and adjust strategies to maintain a competitive edge. Merchandisers need a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to adapt to fast-changing retail environments.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective merchandising strategies to boost sales performance.
  • Analyze sales trends and customer preferences to optimize inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with store teams to ensure product displays are appealing and accessible.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best product terms and pricing.
  • Monitor competitor activities to maintain competitive pricing and promotion strategies.
  • Coordinate new product launches and promotional events with marketing teams.
  • Prepare detailed sales forecasts and reports for management review.
  • Ensure that products are accurately priced and labelled on the store floor.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Train store staff on effective merchandising techniques and product knowledge.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify opportunities for sales growth and improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in merchandising.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in retail merchandising or a similar role is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales and market data.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with suppliers and team members.
  • Proficient in using merchandising software and inventory management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel to various store locations as needed.
