Job Description

A Medical Representative, often referred to as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, plays a crucial role in the healthcare industry by acting as a bridge between pharmaceutical companies and healthcare professionals. These professionals are responsible for promoting and selling their company's products, whether that be pharmaceutical drugs or medical equipment, to healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, and pharmacists. The goal is to increase product awareness, answer queries, provide advice, and introduce new products. A Medical Representative should fully understand their products, be extraordinarily knowledgeable about their competition, and remain fully up-to-date with the latest medical data and advancements. The position demands excellent communication skills, the ability to sell, and a strong grasp of scientific concepts to effectively convey product benefits to healthcare providers.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of products and competitors' offerings.
  • Build and cultivate strong relationships with healthcare professionals to promote product sales.
  • Identify and meet the needs of healthcare professionals and provide them with product knowledge.
  • Conduct sales presentations to demonstrate the efficacy of products to potential clients.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to strategize and implement sales plans effectively.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends to identify potential sales opportunities and threats.
  • Prepare and submit sales reports and forecasts to management on a regular basis.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and pharmaceutical industry standards at all times.
  • Attend industry conferences and training sessions to stay updated on new products and trends.
  • Provide feedback to the product development team concerning customer needs and perceptions.
  • Manage and organize territory plans to prioritize customer and territorial tasks effectively.
  • Resolve customer issues promptly and ensure satisfaction to maintain brand reputation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as life sciences or healthcare.
  • Prior experience in a sales or customer service role within the healthcare industry is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and pharmaceutical industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are mandatory.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and sales management software tools.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to visit clients and attend industry events.
