Mechanical Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and BOQs for mechanical and HVAC works in MEP projects.
  

• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and scope of work to identify project requirements.
  

• Perform quantity take-offs for HVAC ductwork, chilled water piping, ventilation systems, and mechanical equipment.
  

• Prepare material, labour, equipment, and installation cost breakdowns.
  

• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
  

• Prepare technical and commercial tender submissions.
  

• Analyse project drawings and identify discrepancies, missing details, and potential cost variations.
  

• Prepare rate analysis, cost comparisons, and budget estimates.
  

• Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and internal project teams.
  

• Prepare variation claims, additional work quotations, and revised cost estimates.
  

• Follow up with suppliers and subcontractors for updated prices and technical offers.
  

• Ensure estimates are accurate and submitted within tender deadlines.
  

• Provide technical and commercial support during tender negotiations.
  

Requirements

• Bachelors degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  

• Minimum 4–6 years of experience in mechanical estimation, preferably in UAE MEP contracting companies.
  

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water piping, ductwork, ventilation, and mechanical equipment.
  

• Experience in BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, cost estimation, and rate analysis.
  

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Excel.
  

• Knowledge of UAE market rates, supplier pricing, and subcontractor quotations.
  

• Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  

• Good negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  

• Experience in high-rise buildings, commercial projects, and residential developments is preferred.
