As a Maintenance Engineer, you’re not just overseeing physical building and systems maintenance and repairs – you’re spreading the light and warmth of hospitality by delivering memorable experiences that make the stay for every guest.
Responsibilities
Here's what you'll do during a typical day:
- Lead and develop a high-performing team: Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor team members; conduct performance evaluations, provide professional development opportunities, and recognise achievements to build a motivated and high-performing team
- Maintenance Engineer with managing daily maintenance operations: Oversee maintenance activities, prioritize tasks, and verify completion through the property maintenance management system; ensure timely resolution of service requests, guest concerns, and emergencies
- Ensure safety and compliance: Oversee the maintenance of the physical building, mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, and life safety systems, coordinate inspections, and uphold safety and compliance standards in line with national and local regulations
- Maintenance Engineer, Engineer needed with driving engineering performance: Monitor departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including equipment upkeep, audit results, and team productivity and act as need to improve performance
- Support hotel-wide operational leadership: Collaborate with the broader hotel leadership team in overseeing evacuation procedures, duty manager coverage, and ot Engineer neededher safety protocols as needed
- Oversee contractor work: Supervise external contractors and inspect completed work for quality and compliance
- Lead energy efficiency initiatives: Support and oversee property-wide energy conservation programs to reduce utility costs

To fulfill this role successfully, a Maintenance Engineer should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in similar role in a hotel engineering, facilities management, or building maintenance, preferably within an international hospitality environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire life safety systems, kitchen and laundry equipment, and general building maintenance.
- Experience in implementing and monitoring preventive maintenance programs to ensure the safety, security, conservation, and compliance of the hotel.
- Ability to diagnose faults, troubleshoot technical issues, and perform corrective maintenance efficiently.
- Knowledge of local health and safety regulations, engineering standards, and environmental practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with Team Members, guests, and external contractors.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management systems.
- Flexibility to respond to emergency situations and work varying schedules as required by business needs.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences and maintaining the highest standards of quality and service.
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- Previous experience within a Hilton property or another internationally recognized hotel brand.
- Technical certifications related to HVAC, electrical systems, or building maintenance.
- Experience with energy management and sustainability initiatives.
- Supervisory experience leading engineering or maintenance teams.
