JOB TITLE: LOGISTICS MANAGER

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and support to projects and business development initiatives during the bid stage and continually reduce costs through proficient resource planning and deployment for timely execution of projects ensuring the project is risk free protecting the interests of the company.
• Specifically, to plan, coordinate, and execute all logistics and materials movement for offshore modulization activities — ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-efficient transport of modules, equipment, and materials from fabrication yards to offshore installation sites per Gas requirements.
• Logistics & Transportation Planning
• Develop and implement a comprehensive logistics strategy for module transport.
• Plan sequencing and scheduling for inbound logistics, yard handling, load-out, sea fastening, marine transport, load-in and installation on foundation.
• Liaise with engineering, procurement, fabrication yards, and offshore installation teams.
• Prepare route surveys, risk assessments, and transportation feasibility studies.
• Permits & Regulatory Compliance
• Secure all transport permits, customs clearances, and Abu Dhabi port/authority approvals.
• Ensure compliance with logistics standards, UAE Federal Transport Regulations, and Gas HSE requirements.
• Maintain documentation for customs, insurance, and regulatory bodies.
• Vendor, Contractor & Stakeholder Management
• Manage and coordinate with logistics service providers: heavy haulage, marine vessels, tugs, barges, stevedores.
• Evaluate and monitor performance, cost, and quality of third-party contractors.
• Act as primary logistics liaison between Client ( Gas), EPCM Construction Contractors, and Subcontractors.
• Risk & Safety Management
• Conduct logistics risk assessments and mitigation plan for module transport and offshore transfer.
• Ensure all logistics operations meet HSE standards, including lifting, rigging, and heavy transport.
• Lead incident investigations related to logistics activities.
• Cost & Budget Control
• Prepare logistics cost estimates, budgets, and commercial proposals.
• Monitor logistics expenditure and recommend cost optimization strategies.
• Reporting & Documentation
• Generate daily/weekly logistics progress and performance reports.
• Maintain all logistics documentation: transport plans, permits, customs docs, vessel manifests, quality records.
• Monitor projects with respect to cost, resource deployment, productivity improvements and manpower planning to ensure timely completion of project schedules.
• Interface with buyers for placing local and overseas orders and co-ordinate with vendors for finalizing delivery schedules for materials/equipment. Monitor and follow up with vendors to ensure that materials and equipment are delivered by the vendor, collected by the freight forwarder and received at the site ensuring smooth transportation and timely delivery.
• Monitor and co-ordinate with various freight forwarders, third party agencies, ports, customs, subcontractors, handling agencies etc. to accelerate shipments and clearances. Interface with insurance agencies for regular declaration and reporting in case of any accidents while goods are in transit.
• Negotiating with customs / excise authorities for obtaining mandatory approvals / clearances with respect to export / import operations.
• Handle import documentation as per prescribed rules and regulations.
• Manage supply and distribution operations entailing responsibility of logistics operations as well as freight management.
• Formulate effective strategic plans to enhance logistics operations applying best practices for minimizing wastages and inventory costs for meeting the budgetary structure.
• Monitor material availability for various projects and following up for shortages.
• Introduce cost reduction initiatives to generate significant savings at the bid stage as well as the project execution stage.
• Manage the heavy lift operation with its associated logistical support.
• Plan and oversee implementation of safety norms and practices and organize regular training to team members for to handle the projects in all the aspects.
• Ensure projects meet the health, safety and environment requirements thereby protecting the interests of the company and managing costs efficiently.
• Participate in preparing the shipping, marking & packing instructions for each project.
• Participate in preparing & approve Project shipping & logistics execution strategy.
• Participate in preparing RFQ’s to Freight Forwarder, scrutinize quotation evaluate offers and prepare / approve bids tabulations.
• Negotiate & conclude agreements/ contracts with freight forwarders for general cargo & OOG shipments.
• Interview, Hire and oversee training of staff.
• Implement Health and Safety Procedures.
• Perform any related duties and responsibilities as and when required.
  
  

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science / Supply chain management / Logistics / Engineering / Business, or related discipline.
• Maximum years of experience in logistics experience in module transportation logistics, heavy-lift operations, or project logistics in oil & gas preferably offshore.
• Specific experience with offshore modulization logistics, heavy transport, and marine load-out.
• Prior involvement in / Gas / UAE energy projects is highly preferred.
• Experience working with logistics service providers, freight forwarders, and marine transport operators.
• High attention to safety, quality, and risk mitigation.
• Deep knowledge of logistics planning tools, route analysis, and transport risk assessment.
• Familiarity with International Logistics regulation, Incoterms, customs processes, and UAE regulatory requirements.
• Experience with logistics management systems and ERP integration.
• Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure with multiple contractors and disciplines.
