The Landscape Draftsman is responsible for preparing, developing, and maintaining accurate landscape drawings and technical documentation required for project execution. The role requires strong knowledge of landscape design, construction detailing, and technical drafting, with the ability to translate design concepts and engineering requirements into clear, accurate, and constructible drawings.
The Landscape Draftsman will work closely with the design, engineering, and site teams to ensure drawings are prepared and revised in a timely manner, reflecting actual site conditions and project requirements. The role also supports the preparation of as-built documentation and handover drawings to ensure complete and accurate project close-out.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare detailed landscape shop drawings, construction drawings, working drawings, and as-built drawings for site execution.
Develop drawings for landscape works including hardscape, softscape, paving, kerbs, planters, irrigation, drainage, site furniture, landscape structures, and related external works.
Translate design concepts, specifications, and engineering requirements into accurate and practical construction drawings.
Review design drawings and identify potential technical, dimensional, or constructability issues before issuing drawings for site execution.
Coordinate landscape drawings with architectural, civil, structural, MEP, irrigation, and other relevant disciplines.
Provide timely drawing revisions based on site conditions, design changes, consultant comments, engineering requirements, and construction requirements.
Conduct regular coordination with the site and engineering teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect actual site conditions.
Prepare and update as-built drawings based on approved site changes and completed works.
Ensure all drawings are accurate, coordinated, properly detailed, and issued in accordance with project standards and procedures.
Maintain proper drawing registers, revision records, and document control for all landscape drawings.
Ensure construction documentation is issued within the required project schedule to avoid delays to site activities.
Support the site team with technical drawings and clarifications required during construction.
Review drawings against actual construction progress and incorporate approved changes into the final documentation.
Assist the project team during testing, inspection, snagging, completion, and handover activities by providing required drawings and documentation.
Prepare final handover and as-built drawing packages in accordance with project and client requirements.
Ensure all drawing outputs comply with approved design standards, project specifications, consultant requirements, and applicable construction practices.
Work effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple drawing requirements while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
QUALIFICATION
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Architectural Drafting, Engineering Drafting, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Landscape Draftsman, preferably with a developer or within landscape contracting, construction, or engineering companies.
Skills
Strong practical experience in preparing landscape shop drawings, detailed construction drawings, and as-built drawings.
Demonstrated experience in landscape construction and site execution, with a strong understanding of how drawings are implemented on site.
Proven experience coordinating drawings with site engineers, project engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and construction teams.
Experience in preparing drawings based on actual site measurements and site conditions.
Hands-on experience with project completion, snagging, as-built documentation, and final handover is required.
Must have strong design knowledge and the ability to develop technically sound and constructible landscape details.
Experience working under project schedules and delivering drawings within strict deadlines.
Experience in reviewing and incorporating consultant/client comments and managing multiple drawing revisions.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
Knowledge of other drafting/design software such as Revit, Civil 3D, SketchUp, or Adobe Creative Suite will be an advantage.
Strong understanding of landscape design principles, construction detailing, materials, dimensions, levels, sections, and technical drawings.
Ability to read and interpret architectural, landscape, civil, structural, and MEP drawings.
Strong understanding of construction drawings and their application to actual site execution.
Good knowledge of drawing standards, revision procedures, and technical documentation.
PREFERRED INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:
Landscape contracting and construction, with experience with high rise and mixed - use developments preferred.
