Job Description
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Infectious Disease Specialist to join a leading healthcare facility. The successful candidate will diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of infectious diseases, provide expert consultation to clinical teams, and contribute to infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship programs.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and manage patients with bacterial, viral, fungal, parasitic, and other infectious diseases.
Provide specialist consultation for complex and difficult-to-diagnose infections.
Manage infections including respiratory infections, bloodstream infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis, and healthcare-associated infections.
Evaluate patients with fever of unknown origin and other complex infectious conditions.
Develop appropriate antimicrobial treatment plans based on clinical findings, laboratory results, and culture and sensitivity reports.
Participate in antimicrobial stewardship programs and promote responsible antibiotic use.
Work closely with microbiology, intensive care, emergency medicine, surgery, oncology, and other departments.
Provide guidance on infection prevention and control measures, isolation precautions, and outbreak management.
Participate in infection control committees and hospital infection surveillance programs.
Interpret microbiology, serology, molecular diagnostic, and other relevant laboratory investigations.
Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and follow-up.
Maintain accurate medical records and clinical documentation.
Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, multidisciplinary meetings, and Continuing Medical Education (CME).
Ensure compliance with healthcare authority regulations, hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient safety requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
MD / DNB / DM / MRCP / FRCP / Arab Board or equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification in Infectious Diseases.
Valid or eligible medical license from the relevant GCC healthcare authority.
Minimum 3 years of post-specialization experience as an Infectious Disease Specialist.
Strong clinical experience in diagnosis and management of complex infectious diseases.
Experience in antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control is highly preferred.
Excellent clinical judgment, communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
