Job Description

An Infection Control and Prevention Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, healthcare workers, and visitors within healthcare facilities. The main objective of this role is to develop, implement, and oversee infection prevention and control strategies across the organization. This position demands a deep understanding of infectious diseases, compliance with regulatory standards, and the ability to educate and train staff on best practices in infection prevention. The individual in this role will work closely with various departments to design and deliver effective infection control programs tailored to the specific needs of the facility, fostering a culture of safety and awareness. The Infection Control and Prevention Manager is also responsible for conducting risk assessments, monitoring infection trends, and coordinating response efforts during outbreaks or infection control breaches.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive infection control and prevention policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and dissemination of infection-related data within the facility.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with infection control standards and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations during outbreak investigations and infection control breaches.
  • Design and execute training programs for healthcare staff on infection prevention best practices.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify and mitigate infection risks in their areas.
  • Coordinate with public health authorities regarding reporting and management of infectious diseases.
  • Review and update infection control policies to reflect current regulatory changes and standards.
  • Lead the infection control committee, facilitating discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Prepare and present reports on infection control performance to senior management.
  • Develop strategies to enhance organizational awareness and compliance of infection prevention efforts.
  • Manage the budget and resources allocated to infection control and prevention activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Current professional licensure or certification in infection control (e.g., CIC preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in infection control within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of infection prevention standards, guidelines, and legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with diverse audiences.
  • Proven track record of successful project management and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable insights for improvement.
