Job Description

An HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer is a critical part of any organization, ensuring compliance with health and safety laws and promoting a culture of health and safety within the workplace. As an HSE Officer, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and reviewing protective and preventive measures, ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, and analyzing workplace risks. You will work closely with various departments to develop policies and procedures that help minimize occupational hazards and improve overall safety standards. Your role will involve a proactive approach to risk assessment and the development of comprehensive safety programs, alongside a focus on ongoing staff training and education to promote safety awareness. If you are detail-oriented with a strong ability to identify potential hazards and create practical solutions, this role may be a perfect fit for you.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental strategies and policies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures to mitigate risks.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Investigate incidents and occurrences, and produce reports and recommendations.
  • Lead in-house training sessions with managers and employees on health and safety issues and risks.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory legislation and ensure adherence to regulations.
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics and conduct risk assessments.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs, modules, and presentations.
  • Review and update HSE policies and manuals to ensure best practices.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations regarding safety concerns.
  • Manage emergency response procedures and ensure all equipment is properly maintained.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies as necessary and keep updated with new legislation or changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Certification in risk management and industry-standard safety practices preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an HSE role in a relevant industry.
  • Strong knowledge of current HSE legislation and industry standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with safety management software.
