The Healthcare Billing Executive (IP) is a crucial role that ensures the efficient handling of patient accounts and the accurate billing of healthcare services provided within inpatient settings. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex billing systems. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of healthcare billing processes, compliance regulations, and electronic health record systems. As a Healthcare Billing Executive, you will play a key role in managing billing procedures, troubleshooting billing related issues, and facilitating effective communication between healthcare providers and insurance companies. Your expertise will contribute to the financial health of the organization by ensuring timely and accurate billing and reimbursement for services rendered.


Responsibilities

  • Review inpatient medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness of data prior to billing.
  • Process and submit inpatient claims to various insurance companies and government payers.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding inpatient claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
  • Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve any billing discrepancies or denials.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers to gather additional information as required for claim processing.
  • Perform billing audits to identify and correct potential errors in billing documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on healthcare billing regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare detailed reports on billing activities, including revenue, collections, and accounts receivable status.
  • Manage electronic health record systems to ensure accurate documentation and data entry.
  • Implement strategies to optimize billing processes and improve overall efficiency.
  • Provide training and support to junior billing staff on billing procedures and compliance.
  • Collaborate with finance departments to streamline billing and financial reporting activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare billing, specifically inpatient services.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare billing codes, standards, and electronic health record systems.
  • Proficient in using billing software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and regulations.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively interact with healthcare providers and payers.
  • Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy in managing billing documentation and accounts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance laws, such as HIPAA, and associated best practices.
