Job Description

The Head of Student Success Unit is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing all student success programs and initiatives to enhance students’ academic progress, engagement, retention, and successful completion of their studies.

The position leads the development and implementation of student success strategies, early-alert and intervention systems, and student support initiatives. The role also oversees the follow-up of students at risk of academic difficulty and coordinates with colleges and relevant academic and administrative units to ensure the provision of integrated, effective, and timely student support services

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Student Success Unit and oversee the implementation of its plans, programs, and initiatives in alignment with the University’s strategic objectives.
  • Develop the Student Success Unit strategy and operational plan, monitor implementation, and evaluate the achievement of established objectives.
  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives that promote student success, persistence, retention, and graduation.
  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of the early-alert system to identify students at risk of academic difficulty or withdrawal and ensure timely and appropriate interventions.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of individualized student support and intervention plans in coordination with colleges, faculty members, and relevant University units.
  • Establish and monitor procedures and standards for student case management, referrals, follow-up, and case closure.
  • Oversee the provision of student guidance, advising, and support services and ensure appropriate referrals to relevant University services when required.
  • Maintain continuous coordination with Deans, Department Chairs, faculty members, and relevant University units regarding students requiring additional support or follow-up.
  • Oversee orientation, transition, and student integration programs for new students.
  • Develop and oversee workshops, programs, and activities that contribute to student skills development and academic and personal success.
  • Analyze student performance data and success indicators and use findings to enhance the Unit’s programs and services.
  • Prepare periodic reports and statistics on the Unit’s performance and the outcomes of student success programs and submit them to the relevant management.
  • Monitor student satisfaction with the Unit’s services, analyze feedback and survey results, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Lead awareness initiatives related to student success and available student support services and resources.
  • Oversee the organization of Student Success Unit events and activities and promote student participation.
  • Establish effective working relationships with academic and administrative units and student service centers to ensure the integration and effectiveness of student support services.
  • Develop and review policies, procedures, guidelines, and forms related to the operations of the Student Success Unit and contribute to their continuous improvement.
  • Supervise Unit staff, assign responsibilities, monitor performance, and identify training and professional development needs.
  • Represent the Student Success Unit in relevant University committees, meetings, and initiatives, as assigned.
  • Collaborate with relevant University units to develop initiatives aimed at improving the student experience and enhancing student success.
  • Monitor current trends and best practices in student success and retention and recommend and implement practices appropriate to the University’s needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by senior management

Qualifications

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Educational Administration, Counseling, Psychology, Management, or a related field.

Professional qualifications or certifications in student success, academic advising, student affairs, or a related field are preferred.

Experience

  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in higher education, student affairs, student success, academic advising, or student support services.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing or leading student success programs and initiatives.
  • Experience in managing and monitoring early-alert and student intervention systems.
  • Experience in analyzing student data, preparing reports, and developing performance indicators.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and administrative experience, preferably with experience in leading a team
