Job Description

A Fire Alarm Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of buildings and occupants by installing, inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire alarm systems. They work in various sectors, including commercial, residential, and industrial settings, to ensure compliance with relevant fire codes and safety standards. As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing system malfunctions, conducting routine inspections and repairs, and ensuring that all fire alarm components are operational. You will need to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently, communicate effectively with clients, and possess a keen understanding of fire safety protocols. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining safe environments by preventing potential fire hazards and ensuring rapid response mechanisms are in place.


Responsibilities

  • Install and configure complex fire alarm systems in various building settings.
  • Conduct periodic inspections and routine maintenance of fire alarm systems.
  • Identify potential issues and promptly execute necessary repairs and upgrades.
  • Maintain detailed records of all inspections, tests, and service activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national fire codes and standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients regarding fire safety systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system malfunctions and operational issues effectively.
  • Collaborate with other construction and safety professionals for system integration.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Conduct hands-on training sessions for clients on using fire alarm systems.
  • Keep up-to-date with advancements in fire alarm technology and best practices.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of fire safety procedures and strategies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the fire alarm or electrical field.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm systems and related safety codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals accurately.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical work.
  • Strong communication skills for effective client interactions and guidance.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various job sites.
