Job Description

The role of a Fire Alarm Technician is critical in promoting the safety and security of individuals and properties. As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems across various commercial, residential, and industrial settings. Your knowledge of fire alarm systems and electrical circuitry will be essential in ensuring that each system is functioning optimally to provide early warning alerts in case of a fire emergency. You will work closely with safety officers, property managers, and engineers to implement troubleshooting solutions and compliance with fire safety regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly skilled in problem-solving, and has a proactive approach to tasks. This role often requires travel to different job sites and involves working in tight spaces or at elevated heights, necessitating strict adherence to safety procedures.


Responsibilities

  • Install and program fire alarm systems in commercial and residential buildings.
  • Conduct routine inspections and tests to ensure fire alarm equipment functionality.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with alarm systems efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects and assignments on schedule.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to mitigate fire alarm system malfunctions.
  • Update and maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and repairs completed.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable fire safety codes and regulations.
  • Provide training and technical support to clients on alarm system operations.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service requests from clients or on-call duty.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace in compliance with safety standards.
  • Stay informed of new technologies and advancements in fire alarm systems.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and supervisors regarding job status.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education with technical training preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fire alarm system installation and maintenance.
  • Knowledgeable about fire safety codes, standards, and alarm system operations.
  • Proficient understanding of the electrical wiring and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
  • Capability to work independently, manage time, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to travel and work in various environmental conditions as required.
