The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at American University of Sharjah (AUS) is accepting applications for a full-time, regular faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing in August 2027. In exceptional cases, appointment at a higher rank may be considered. We welcome applications from outstanding candidates in all areas of mathematics; preference will be given to candidates specializing in algebra or applied mathematics. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: All candidates must hold a PhD in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. Applicants should demonstrate a solid and active research record, with evidence of quality publications and clear potential for sustained contributions to the field. Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain an active research program, supervise master’s and PhD students, secure research grants, and engage in international collaborations. Evidence of excellence in teaching across all curriculum levels and strong communication skills in English are required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in North American-style education.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: A complete application consists of two PDF files. The first file contains a cover letter, a research statement, and a teaching statement. The second file contains the candidate's curriculum vitae and contact details for three references. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to contact their references to have their letters of recommendation sent directly to the search committee. These reference letters must address research, teaching, and overall potential, with at least one of these letters specifically addressing the applicant's teaching experience.
