The Department of Psychology at American University of Sharjah (AUS) in the United Arab Emirates invites applications for an open-rank full-time faculty position in psychology, starting August 2026 (in exceptional circumstances, January 2027). As an American-accredited institution in the liberal arts tradition, we seek candidates with a passion for both teaching and research in any area of specialization in psychology to join our faculty.

Successful candidates will have a PhD or PsyD in psychology, and professional experience reflecting strong commitments to teaching, research and service. As a university formed on the American model, with English as the language of instruction, we give priority to candidates who have experience in American models of higher education.

Our new Department of Psychology is rapidly growing. We’ve recruited highly motivated student cohorts with internationally recognized student organizations, including Psi Chi and a psychology club. The program hosts dedicated lab spaces, specialized software and hardware, a research participation pool, and support services such as Sona Systems. Our psychology faculty regularly publish in strong peer-reviewed journals, have won internal and external competitive grants, and integrate undergraduate students into their lab activities.
