Job Description

The Facilities Manager will oversee and manage all building-related operations to ensure that the facilities are safe, up to code, and fully operational. This position is responsible for preserving the good condition of infrastructure and ensuring that facilities are well-maintained and functioning properly. A facilities manager is expected to have comprehensive knowledge related to managing building systems in various industries. They must work effectively with other managers, staff, and vendors to ensure spaces are always fully functional and efficient. This includes a blend of hands-on maintenance and strategic managerial duties aimed at developing and enhancing procedures to achieve the best possible operational output and sustainability. The Facilities Manager role is pivotal in streamlining operations, optimizing resource usage, and improving operational cost efficiency, thereby directly impacting the productivity and comfort of all users.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of physical facilities and utility systems.
  • Develop and implement a facilities management program, including preventative maintenance and life-cycle requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for necessary facility renovations and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations to maintain safe facilities.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for property maintenance operations and facilities projects.
  • Supervise and manage maintenance staff, janitorial services, and other facilities personnel.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies for efficient space planning and environmental sustainability.
  • Maintain accurate records of facility operations activities and maintenance schedules.
  • Evaluate service contracts to ensure facility management services are efficient and up to standard.
  • Negotiate contracts with outside vendors for equipment repairs and facility services.
  • Plan, organize, and manage the operations for relocations or renovations of facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, engineering, business administration, or related fields.
  • Proven experience of at least 5 years in facilities management or a related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of facilities management practices and principles, including maintenance and operations management.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and supervise a diverse team of facilities staff.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements in a facilities context.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and improve facilities operations and efficiency.
