Job Description

An Estimator cum Procurement Officer is a multifaceted professional responsible for analyzing project costs and obtaining necessary materials and services. This position is crucial in bridging the gap between budgeting and purchasing, ensuring projects are both cost-effective and efficient. The individual will work closely with various departments, including finance, operations, and project management, to forecast costs accurately and make strategic purchasing decisions. They must be adept in evaluating supplier quotes and contracts, selecting vendors, and negotiating terms to minimize costs without compromising quality or timelines. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in budgeting and forecasting, as well as expertise in supply chain management. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills to facilitate effective business relationships with vendors and internal teams.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects based on provided specifications and designs.
  • Analyze and interpret data to forecast project expenses and potential cost savings.
  • Gather and evaluate competitive supplier quotes for required materials and services.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers for optimal procurement deals.
  • Ensure timely procurement of materials to meet project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with project managers to understand the project needs and constraints.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of costs and suppliers for future reference.
  • Prepare purchase orders and manage procurement documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Liaise with accounts and finance teams to reconcile invoices and vendor payouts.
  • Monitor procurement processes to align with established policies and regulations.
  • Continuously evaluate the supply chain to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Report cost estimation and procurement performance metrics to senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field required.
  • Proven experience as an estimator or procurement officer in a relevant industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical documents.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation and procurement software and tools is essential.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality and effective solutions.
