Job Description

An Estimator cum Procurement Officer plays a vital role in the efficient functioning of a company’s operations by ensuring that all project-related costs are forecasted accurately, and necessary materials are procured timely and cost-effectively. This dual-role position requires an analytical mind to estimate budgets accurately, coupled with strong negotiation skills to secure the best deals from suppliers. The primary objective of this role is to enable projects to start on time and proceed within budget by actively managing the cost analysis and procurement processes. Candidates for this role should be adept at understanding construction or production projects, possess excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, and be detail-oriented to prevent any cost overruns. Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for potential new projects.
  • Analyze project specifications and collaborate with technical teams to define requirements.
  • Manage the entire procurement process, from sourcing to vendor performance evaluation.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
  • Maintain an updated database of approved suppliers and pricing agreements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials by following up rigorously with vendors.
  • Monitor market trends to account for potential impacts on cost and availability of materials.
  • Work closely with project management teams to align procurement strategies with project timelines.
  • Prepare reports on cost estimates and procurement activities for management review.
  • Coordinate with finance to ensure payments are processed and accounted for as per agreements.
  • Implement cost-saving strategies while maintaining quality standards in procurement.
  • Regularly update project cost databases to reflect changing material prices and market conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in estimation and procurement roles within relevant industries.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to handle complex datasets.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to liaise with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Proficient with procurement and estimation software tools and databases.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines effectively.
