Key Responsibilities

1. Assist Provost and Vice Chancellor Academic as needed to support strategic goals.
2. Lead the implementation of the Academy’s educational strategy by facilitating the integration of innovative curricula, leveraging resources from laboratories and libraries.
3. Drive quality improvement initiatives through the development of academic frameworks and a robust digital learning ecosystem across academic departments. 
4. Work closely with College Deans, Program Heads, Institutional Effectiveness, and business partners to ensure academic programs meet maritime industry standards and requirements.
5. Monitor educational provisions in accordance with the UAE Ministry of Educations standards, supporting year-on-year continuous improvement.
6. Champion Academy’s digital learning ecosystem for campus based, hybrid, and online learning.
7. Ensure that the educational provisions are research informed and aligned to the industry needs.
8. Foster a strong learning and teaching community by providing tailored support and professional development for academic staff, enhancing their instructional methods in line with global best practices in applied Higher Education.
9. Assist academic staff in delivering high-quality education that caters for the diverse backgrounds and abilities of all students.
10. Be willing to travel as required and occasionally work outside of the contractual standard working hours.

Qualification, Skills and Experience: Qualifications

• E: PhD in Education or relevant subject
• P: Recognised qualification for teaching in Higher Education
• P: Relevant industry body affiliation/ membership

• E: Ability to fluently speak, write and communicate in English at the highest level of professionalism.
• E: Team player, approachable, sensitive towards all cultures
• E: Capable of working effectively under pressure, with a commitment to completing tasks promptly and efficiently.

Experience 

• E: Extensive and expert knowledge and understanding of learning and teaching in higher education
• E: Minimum of 5 years of academic leadership experience on higher education including evidence of successful change management program
• E: Successful leadership at large-scale improvements or change projects within the area of higher education.
• E: Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and academic support.
• E: Strong understanding of digital learning technologies and pedagogical best practices.
• P: Familiarity with the UAEs Higher Education landscape, including policies, practices, and national education standards (QFEmirates, CAA, NQC).
