Job Description

The Department of Economics at American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates invites applications for two regular (rolling-contract) positions at the Assistant Professor rank. Candidates must have a PhD in Economics, preferably from North America, by the starting date (August 2026). Fields are open. Applicants must have a strong research agenda and teaching skills and must be able to work effectively with a diverse student body. The teaching load is 3+3 small sections per year. The university curricula, teaching standards and employment norms are aligned with the American model of higher education. The salary is competitive and tax-free in the UAE. Seed research funds, free housing, paid utilities and other benefits are also provided.

More documents will be solicited from the shortlisted candidates. Applications should be submitted through the AEA JOE system. The application deadline is January 31, 2026. The review of candidates will begin after posting and continue until positions are filled.
