Job Description

An Applied Behaviour Analyst (ABA) is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals through the application of principles derived from behavioral science. This role focuses on assessing, designing, and implementing behavioral interventions for clients with a variety of needs, often including those on the autism spectrum, but also extending to other areas requiring behavioral change. The ABA works collaboratively with families, other healthcare providers, educators, and community members to create strategies that help clients achieve a higher quality of life and independence. The analyst uses evidence-based practices to identify the function of behaviors and teaches alternative skills that lead to meaningful behavioral transformations. They also play a crucial role in training caregivers and educators in implementing these strategies and monitoring their effectiveness through data collection and analysis.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral assessments for clients to identify their specific needs.
  • Develop individualized intervention plans using evidence-based ABA techniques and strategies.
  • Implement behavioral interventions and monitor their progress to ensure effectiveness.
  • Collect and analyze data to inform decision-making and adjustments to intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with families, educators, and other professionals for comprehensive care provision.
  • Provide training and support to caregivers and educators about ABA principles and techniques.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of client progress and session outcomes.
  • Present findings and suggest recommendations at multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Ensure interventions are culturally sensitive and respect the client’s background and family dynamics.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and regulations as set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Conduct research to stay informed on current trends and advancements in applied behavior analysis.
  • Assist in promoting awareness and understanding of ABA within the community.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or BCaBA is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in applied behavior analysis or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of ABA techniques and the ability to apply them effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with clients, families, and team members.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis for behavioral assessment purposes.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends as needed.
